12/15/19 Update:  Adam has reported that Edmond's hemoglobin has risen from 4.2 to 10.8 which means he is almost able to have the needed surgery. Funding is desperately needed for the actual surgery on his bone.  At this time, approximately an additional $400 is needed for the surgery, plus there will need to be on going costs. Please donate so Edmund can get this surgery he needs. Your donatations are tax deductable.  Please PM for the tax id

Edmond is 13 years old. Edmond was introduced to AmaKaren by Adam, a nurse from Nalerigu who works in Techimon. Edmond has sickle cell, but that is not his main issue. He has contracted a fungus which was not medically cared for because his mother had no money to take him to the clinic.  Edmund was in such pain at school one day that he walked into Adam’s clinic crying and asking for help knowing that there was no money to pay. However, Adam knew that it was more serious than superficial. I told him I would see him what I could do.  So I contacted Jonathan Koligu in Nalerigu and Dr Dunstan Guba and they conferred and knew it was very serious.  Jonathan paid for Edmund’s mother and Edmund’s bus ticket and blood tests for an appointment in Kumasi.   After Edmund had seen the Doctor, they were told that the infection has infected the bone and Edmund is in need of urgent surgery.  We were able to gather 2,000 cedis ($400) for the operation, but we desperately need funding for the rest of the surgery and his on-going treatment.  There is a good possible he will lose his leg without on-going treatment.  More information will be forthcoming.  If you can donate please notate on the donation that it is for Edmund’s care!
